General Summary: Provide supervision of the classroom environment and of the teaching staff. Provide subject area classroom instruction for grades 7-12.  Plan curriculum based on the Montana State Core Curriculum. Assign students grades for course work and assign a final grade for the class.  Coordinate with educational planning and assessment with parents and treatment team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all duties of teaching staff as needed.
  2. Be responsible for the educational needs of all Chrysalis students.
  3. Communicate educational plans to parents.
  4. Attend treatment team meetings.
  5. Oversee the behavioral management within the school settings.
  6. Coordinate with residential staff to maintain an appropriate learning environment.
  7. Attend Administration meetings.
  8. Execute marketing responsibilities as assigned.
  9. Manage and be responsible for the education department budget.
  10. Plan and help execute graduations.
  11. Oversee the accreditation of the school.
  12. Be the learning specialist for Chrysalis School.
  13. Oversee special education services.
  14. Staff the education department.
  15. Expand the Chrysalis School program and continually work at making it more effective.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of the assigned subject matter.
  2. Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods.
  3. Knowledge of company policies and practices.
  4. Basic knowledge of the disorders and issues facing the students and their families.
  5. Skill in communicating clearly with students, parents, and co-workers.
  6. Ability to do basic word processing.
  7. Ability to plan and prioritize work.
  8. Ability to adapt to the vast variety of learning, behavioral, and emotional needs of the students.

Education and Experience:

The position requires a current Utah teaching license.  Teaching experience in addition to student teaching is required.
